Property Description

Craigellachie is a villages people know for its setting and character, sitting within Speyside and surrounded by countryside, yet still well connected to nearby towns. This home takes full advantage of that, set on an elevated plot with generous gardens, large internal space and a layout that gives families the flexibility to grow.

Approaching from the front you find a traditional stone cottage with a clean white finish, twin bay windows and dormers set into the roofline, it has a balanced, almost storybook look.. The central front door, framed by simple detailing and surrounded by mature planting, gives it a welcoming feel, while the conservatory to the side adds a more modern contrast without taking away from the original character. It’s a home that immediately feels part of its surroundings.

Inside, the kitchen and dining area is one of the standout parts of the home. It’s a large room, naturally divided through a wide opening that creates two connected but distinct spaces. The first section immediately catches the eye, with bold blue walls, grey tiled flooring and a central island that offers both storage and seating. A large range style Aga sits as a focal point, while a bay window to the front brings in natural light. French doors open directly into the conservatory, extending the space even further. Through the opening, the second part of the kitchen shifts in tone. Grey cabinets paired with wood worktops run along both sides, creating a practical working area. A white composite sink sits one side, while a gas hob with overhead extractor is positioned on the opposite. The walls are kept white here, balancing the bolder front section, while a door leads through to the utility room.
The utility is a genuinely useful addition, with extra cabinets, a stainless steel sink and space for laundry appliances. Windows keep it bright and there’s a door that opens directly out to the garden.
The conservatory is much larger than you might expect. Built with a solid base and with a fully glazed upper section, it’s a space that can comfortably handle both dining and seating areas. Wooden flooring runs underfoot, with the internal timber painted a deep green that contrasts nicely with the white lower walls. With glazing on all sides and central heating in place, it’s a room that can be used year round.
Back through the main hallway, the living room offers a more traditional feel. Blue painted walls are paired with wooden flooring and crisp white finishes, while the fireplace catches the eye. A wood burning stove is set within the original stone surround, with a white mantelpiece framing it. A large bay window to the front brings in plenty of light, while an alcove with shelving adds practical storage.
Off this room is an additional space that works equally well as a bedroom or home office. It’s a double room with white walls, wooden flooring and a tall, deep set window, making it a bright and flexible part of the home.
An additional inner hallway on the ground floor continues takes you to another bedroom and bathroom. The bedroom is a comfortable double with neutral white walls, wooden flooring and a tall window. A built-in wardrobe with timber doors provides storage without taking up additional space.
The bathroom has been styled with a bit more personality. A freestanding slipper bath with gold taps sits to the side, while a separate shower cubicle offers a more practical option for quicker, everyday use. A pedestal sink and toilet sit between the two. It’s decorated with muted purple walls and white tiling to add contrast. A radiator and integrated shelving completes the space.
Upstairs, the landing is naturally lit by two rooflight windows and offers a bit of additional storage space before leading to two further bedrooms, both with en-suites.
The first of these has a modern feel, with dark grey walls, wood effect flooring and a large dormer bay window bringing in plenty of light. Built-in wardrobes provide good storage. The addition of an en-suite toilet and sink is a practical feature, particularly for night time use.
The other first floor bedroom mirrors the proportions but adds a bit more character. A stone effect wallpapered feature wall gives it interest, while the same dormer window setup keeps the room bright. The en-suite in here is more substantial, with a freestanding bath finished in grey, a separate shower cubicle and a sink and toilet completing the room.
Outside, the garden is a real asset. It’s a large, mature space with a mix of lawn, trees and planting, giving it a textured layout. There’s plenty of room for children or pets to play, along with quieter areas to sit and enjoy the surroundings. A more wooded section adds character, while the timber workshop provides excellent storage or hobby space.
Homes like this don’t come up often. A beautifully well kept period property, with flexible living space, a standout kitchen and large gardens, all set within a charming Speyside village. It’s the kind of place that offers more the longer you spend in it, and one that’s well worth seeing in person. Arrange your own private viewing today by contacting Hamish Homes.
